Snow Storm Facts of Life

Be Patient.

Be Understanding.

Be Patient.

1.         We understand that you need to be able to get out to go to work, to the store, the doctor, etc.

2.         Please understand that we do not live in Buffalo, NY and therefore are not as equipped to deal with snowfall over 18 inches. It may take a bit longer than it does in Buffalo but the snow removal will get done.

3.         Threatening your management company with lawsuits, terminating their contract, name calling, non-payment of fees and the like, will not get your community faster service.

4.         Just because you live in a Homeowners Association or Condominium Association, it does not mean that your association is responsible for snow removal:

Private streets - yes

Public Streets - no, it is the responsibility of your City or County government

5.                   It does not matter if you pay $150 a month or $150 a year in association fees; your community will be plowed. Not paying your Association fees will not help; it will only cost you more money in late fees and collection costs.

6.                   If you live in an area where there is not enough room to move the snow, a front end loader may be required to move the snow. It may take a few days to get a loader to the property.

7.                   Snow removal contractors equipment may break down causing delays in them arriving at your property.

8.                   Snow removal contractors may encounter delays in arriving to your property due to traffic, accidents, bad road conditions, etc.

9.         Snow removal contractors do not plow driveways or parking spaces. You will need to shovel your driveway; and when the plow comes through snow will be piled up against your driveway apron. You will need to shovel again and maybe yet again. You will need to shovel your car out of its parking space, perhaps more than once, maybe even three or four times.

10.               When shoveling, dont shovel the snow into the street; shovel it onto your lawn or common area.

11.               If you leave your vehicle parked on the street it will get plowed in, and you will need to dig it out.

12.               Help yourself, help your neighbors - shovel the snow from around your mailbox, fire hydrant, and storm drain inlet.

SHOVEL SNOW SAFELY

Its easy to throw out your back when shoveling snow. Here are some tips for safe shoveling:

Push the snow straight ahead rather than throwing it or walking it to the side of the path.

      Avoid twisting and turning motions.

Bend you knees to lift when shoveling. Let your legs do the work, not your back.

Keep your back as erect as possible.

Take frequent breaks to take the strain off your muscles.
